Senior Manager Technical Safety & Compliance for Etihad Airways
She is leading a team assigned with the mission to cultivate a climate conducive to the development of organization's regulatory compliance framework, quality control, SMS, safety culture and staff competency. Prior to taking this role in July 2022, Dilek was the Head of Airworthiness in Etihad Engineering Design Organization for 7 years. With her leadership, Etihad Engineering became the first organization in the Middle East with EASA and FAA STC capabilities. She started her aviation career at Turkish Aerospace Industries in Türkiye in 2001 and was the Design Team Leader for Airbus A400M military cargo aircraft water & waste system. Subsequently, she joined Turkish Airlines as a Cabin Interior Engineer and then later was appointed as Chief Engineer Interiors Design. With her expertise, Turkish Technic became an EASA approved Design Organization and extended its work scope to Cabin Interiors STCs. Dilek was the first and only Cabin Interiors CVE (Compliance Verification Engineer) in Türkiye until she was hired by Etihad Airways. Dilek has B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Middle East Technical University. Over the course of 15 years’ experience in aircraft design, she developed good understanding of aircraft design certification and its validation by different authorities. She has had opportunities to share her experience with her team members and external parties through the various trainings that she has delivered.
